Stability of lansoprazole and lansoprazole tablets
Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the stability of Lansoprazole and its tablets. METHOD Lanso prazole and its tablets are exposed to light and heat while stored under the conditions of wet heat, room temperature, cooling and coldness well packed, samples are took out periodically and then the contents of Lansoprazole and its degradation product are determined by HPLC as well as the dissolution of the tablets.RESULTS Lansoprazole is unstable under light and heat, it can degrade after storing under wet heat for three months with its contents' descending by 10%. Also Lansopra zole is unstable when storing at room temperature and cool temperature while stable under coldness for 24 months. The tablets are unstable at room temperature while stable under cooling.CONCLUSION Lansoprazole is sensitive to light, heat and wetness. The term of validity is about two years.
