Abstract

Highlights • We report an unplanned secondary analysis of 6-month outcomes in the CODES trial.• 13/14 outcomes were better following CBT plus standardised medical care (SMC).• Monthly seizure frequency was significantly lower at 6 months in the CBT+SMC group.• Treatment effect sizes across outcomes were moderate-to-large at 6-month follow-ups.• Short- and longer-term evaluations are necessary to understand treatment effectiveness.

How strong is the evidence?

Evidence Hub reads this as a secondary / pooled analysis, done in people. Its evidence level is 3 of 5 (Moderate · trial / cohort / secondary analysis). Trials without a large randomized design, cohorts and secondary analyses give moderate evidence.

How the five levels of evidence work. The level is assigned automatically from the abstract and can be wrong, so check the paper.
