Pilot Study of Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Treatment in Mild Acute TBI (OPTIMA-TBI Pilot)
Abstract
This is a double-blind, randomized controlled trial comparing the effect of omega-3 fatty acid versus placebo on blood biomarkers of brain injury, inflammation and neurogenesis.
Conditions: Mild Traumatic Brain Injury.
Primary outcome: Biomarker Endpoints (NFL); Biomarker Endpoint (Inflammation); Biomarker Endpoint (Neurogenesis).
Enrollment: 44 participants.
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a randomized trial, done in people. Its evidence level is 2 of 5 (High · randomized trial). Randomized trials of a reasonable size are the strongest single-study design. Reported size: 44 participants or records.
