Evaluations of Efficacy and Safety of Levofloxacin with Different Usage in the Treatment of Acute Infection at the Upper Urinary Tract
Abstract
Objective :To evaluate the efficacy and safety of levofloxacin with different usage in the treatment of acute infection at the upper urinary tract,in order to offer reference for selecting the drugs usage in clinical practice. Methods :A randomized controlled, single blinded clinical trial was carried out in our study,to observe and compare the efficacy rate, bacterial clearance rate, incidence of adverse drug reaction and treatment cost of levofloxacin in the treatment of acute infection at the upper urinary tract by using it once a day and twice a day. Results:On above-mentioned two using methods for levofloxacin in the treatment of acute infection of the upper urinary tract, the efficacy rate was the same(100%),the bacterial clearance rates were 93.54% and 85.48%(P 0.05),the incidence of adverse drug reaction were 33.87% and 51.61%(P 0.05),and the treatment costs were 769 yuan and 1 045 yuan(P 0.01).Conclusion :Both methods usage were the same in efficacy, but the using once a day was safer, more economical and more convenient than using twice a day.
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a randomized trial. Its evidence level is 2 of 5 (High · randomized trial). Randomized trials of a reasonable size are the strongest single-study design.
