Usefulness of Enhanced Urine Analysis in Febrile Urinary Tract Infection
Abstract
ABSTRACT Aim: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of enhanced urine analysis (EUA) as a rapid screening tool for early and accurate urinary tract infection (UTI) detection in paediatric patients. Methods: A total of 250 children aged 1 month to 5 years with suspected UTI were included based on specific clinical criteria. Urine samples were collected via midstream clean-catch or catheterization. Routine urine analysis, culture, dipstick tests, and EUA were performed. Result: Gram staining had the highest sensitivity and specificity, followed by EUA and dipstick test. Conclusion: EUA demonstrated high accuracy in UTI detection, proving to be a reliable rapid screening tool alongside Gram staining.
