Efficacy of empagliflozin for weight and glycemic control of a patient with Prader-Willi syndrome, systemic lymphedema and extreme obesity: a case report
Abstract
Case Report A patient with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), extreme obesity and hyperglycemia had her body weight increased considerably for 6 months, even with exercise and diet programs. Treatment with metformin and empagliflozin (12.5 mg/day) induced a weight loss of 14 kg (−10.3%) for 6 months and the reduction of glycated hemoglobin A 1c .
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a case report, done in people. Its evidence level is 5 of 5 (Very low · case / narrative / animal / in vitro / in silico). Case reports, narrative reviews, and animal, cell or computer-model studies give the weakest evidence for human health.
