An Open-label, Multi-center, Non-comparative Sinus Puncture Study of 750 mg, Short-course Levofloxacin in the Treatment of Acute Maxillary Sinusitis
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a once-daily administration of 750 milligrams levofloxacin (an antibiotic) for five days, in treating bacterial sinus infections.
Conditions: Maxillary Sinusitis.
Primary outcome: Time to bacteriological eradication, defined as the complete eradication of original strain(s) from the sinus, by the 5th day of levofloxacin treatment..
Enrollment: 18 participants.
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a clinical trial, done in people. Its evidence level is 3 of 5 (Moderate · trial / cohort / secondary analysis). Trials without a large randomized design, cohorts and secondary analyses give moderate evidence. Reported size: 18 participants or records.
