Deficit of nutrients and mental disorders
Abstract
Mental disorders are among the leading causes of disability in the world and also in Serbia. Most of these disorders are treated with prescription drugs. Many of these prescribed drugs cause unwanted side effects, which usually discourage patients from taking their medications. Previous research has shown that nutritional deficiencies correlate with some mental disorders. Studies have also shown that daily supplements of deficient nutrients often effectively reduce patients' symptoms. This study aimed to systematically review all published studies investigating the effects of nutritional deficiencies and mental disorders.
