Abstract

RESULTS: A total of 10 patients were included in this study. The median age was 75.5 years (IQR: 70.8 e 78.5), with a median follow-up of 26 months (IQR: 12 e 35.8). Intraoperative cystoscopy consistently showed whitish, fi brotic prostate changes, with unusually hard tissue resembling an "eraser" compared with typical BPH adenoma tissue (Figure 1A). The surrounding tissues did not bulge into the lumen during resection but maintained their position (Figure 1B). Signi fi cant improvements were observed in IPSS, LQ, OABSS, Qmax, and PVR postoperatively (p [ 0.005, 0.001, 0.043, 0.011, and 0.021, respectively). De novo stress urinary incontinence was observed in 2 cases, both of which had preoperative urinary retention and improved within six months postoperatively. One case required hematoma evacuation for gross hematuria. No other complications above Clavien-Dindo grade II were reported. CONCLUSIONS: Due to the tissue characteristics after brachytherapy, BraTURP requires tailored approaches distinct from typical BPH TURP. This study demonstrates that BraTURP effectively relieves symptoms with a low complication rate. However, given the rarity and small number of cases, further studies are needed to optimize it.
