049 Administration of Daily 5mg Tadalafil Improves not Only Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms but Also Erectile and Endothelial Dysfunction in Patients With Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Abstract
Tadalafil is a promising PDE5 inhibitor for ED treatment. From April 2014, tadalafil has been launched on the treatment of male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) in Japan. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of tadalafil for endothelial dysfunction, besides male LUTS symptoms in patients with BPH. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) had approved this clinical study, and informed consents have been obtained from 56 BPH patients. (1) The male LUTS parameters such as international prostate symptom score (IPSS), overactive bladder symptom score (OABSS), voiding volume (vol), max voiding flow (max), mean voiding flow (mean) on voiding flowmetry examination and residual urine (RU) were compared before and 1month, 3 months, 6 months, 12months after daily 5mg tadalafil treatment. (2) In addition, erectile function, endothelial function and peripheral neuropathy were evaluated by sexual health inventory for men (SHIM) score, brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), ankle brachial index (ABI) and vibration perception threshold (VPT) before and 3 months, 6 months, 12months after daily 5mg tadalafil treatment.
