Abstract

Objective To conduct a meta-analysis on the clinical trails of moxifloxacin for domestical community-acquired pneumonia and evaluate its outcome. Methods Related literature concerning clinical trials of moxifloxacin in treating community-acquired pneumonia published domestically from 2002 to 2010 were retrieved.Meta analysis on the selected literature was conducted by means of Review Manager 4.2 software. Results A total of 19 clinical trials were included in our study(homogeneity test χ2=0.30,P0.05),thus a fixed effect model was applied.Compared with the control group, moxifloxacin has a higher total effective rate with the odds ratio at 1.94 and 95% confidence interval at 1.32~2.84(P0.05).Conclusion Moxifloxacin can be used as an option in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia.

How strong is the evidence?

Evidence Hub reads this as a meta-analysis. Its evidence level is 1 of 5 (Highest · pooled evidence). Pooled evidence from several studies sits at the top of the evidence pyramid.

How the five levels of evidence work. The level is assigned automatically from the abstract and can be wrong, so check the paper.
