Comparison of the efficacy of nemonoxacin and moxifloxacin in the treatment of elderly patients with COPD complicated by acute lower respiratory tract infection
Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of nemonoxacin versus moxifloxacin in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated by acute lower respiratory tract infection. Methods A total of 105 elderly patients with COPD complicated by acute lower respiratory tract infection who were admitted to our hospital from January 2024 to April 2025 were randomized into an observation group (53 patients) or a control group (52 patients). The observation group and the control group were treated with nemonoxacin and moxifloxacin, respectively. The two groups were compared in terms of treatment outcomes, bacterial clearance rate, time to clinical symptom disappearance, serum inflammatory markers, pulmonary function indicators, blood gas indicators, dyspnea score, APACHE II score, and adverse reactions. Results After treatment, the total effective rate, bacterial clearance rate, time to clinical symptom disappearance (time to disappearance of pulmonary rales, time to fever clearance, time to lesion disappearance, and time to wheezing relief), serum inflammatory markers hs-CPR, IL-6, and PCT levels, pulmonary function indices FVC, FEV1, and PEF levels, blood gas indicators PaO2, PaCO2, and SPO2 levels, dyspnea scores, and APACHE II scores did not differ significantly between the two groups (all P > 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (11.3% vs 22.6%, P < 0.05).…
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a randomized trial, done in people. Its evidence level is 2 of 5 (High · randomized trial). Randomized trials of a reasonable size are the strongest single-study design. Reported size: 105 participants or records.
