Compatibility Study of Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride with Various Excipients and Formulation of its Spheroids
Abstract
Objective: The aim of current study is to investigate compatibility study of moxifloxacin hydrochloride with various excipients and development of formulation of its spheroids. Methods: Different analytical instruments such as Bruker Advance Neo 500 MHz NMR spectrometer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) Spectrum RX 1, Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) [DSC-Q20, TA Instruments, (New Castle Delaware, U.S)], and IR (Perkin Elmer spectrum 400 USA FTIR.) and UV spectrometer (Lab India) have been used. Moxifloxacin hydrochloride (MFX.HCl) was managed as gift sample from Galpha Laboratories Ltd., New Delhi. Methyl cellulose, lactose, sodium carboxy methylcellulose, magnesium stearate (MgS), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) PH 200, MCC PH 101, mannitol, starch, potassium hydrogen phosphate, di-sodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, and HCl were obtained from Loba chemie Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai and Central drug house, New Delhi. The acetonitrile (HPLC grade), and methanol (HPLC grade), were bought from Thermo-fisher scientific India Pvt. Ltd. Results: MFX.HCl was characterized by melting point, DSC, FTIR, Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and UV spectrometer. Compatibility study of MFX.HCl was done by use of different analytical techniques. Preformulation investigations were carried out by UV validation, solubility testing for drug. Five batches of MFX.HCl were formulated with the use of diluent and HPMC as…
