Abstract

Instruction In late 2023, steep rises of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) infections occurred in many counties, including China, Denmark, the USA, and the Netherlands. Method We collected respiratory specimens from pediatric patients diagnosed with M. pneumoniae pneumonia from 10 different regions across China. M. pneumoniae was isolated and cultured from these specimens. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of five antibiotics (erythromycin, azithromycin, tetracycline, moxifloxacin, and doxycycline) were determined . Results: A total of 190 M. pneumoniae isolates harbored the A2063G mutation were included. All isolates (100%) were highly resistant to erythromycin (128–1024 μg/ml) and azithromycin (4–256 μg/ml), but susceptible to tetracycline (≤0.125–1 μg/ml), doxycycline (≤0.125–1 μg/ml) and moxifloxacin (≤0.125 μg/ml). For azithromycin and tetracycline, M. pneumoniae isolates from different regions showed different susceptibilities. The MICs of tetracycline against M. pneumoniae from northern China were significantly lower than those from central and southern. Comparisons among cities suggested that isolates from Changsha and Beijing were more resistant to azithromycin. For tetracycline, the MICs were significantly lower among isolates from Beijing. Conclusion: For the treatment of macrolide-resistant M. pneumoniae, tetracycline, moxifloxacin, and doxycycline would be the recommended antibiotics. erj;66/suppl_69/PA573/F1 F1 F1
