The Effectiveness of Melatonin in Prevention of Radiation-induced Oral Mucositis
Abstract
The main aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of melatonin in prevention of radiation induced oral mucositis clinically and biochemically.
Conditions: Oral Mucositis (Ulcerative) Due to Radiation.
Primary outcome: Changes in severity of oral mucositis at different time points along the study; Changes in the total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in saliva at different time points along the study.
Enrollment: 40 participants.
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a clinical trial, done in people. Its evidence level is 3 of 5 (Moderate · trial / cohort / secondary analysis). Trials without a large randomized design, cohorts and secondary analyses give moderate evidence. Reported size: 40 participants or records.
