Clindamycin demonstrates clinical effectiveness for severe M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes pneumonia: A case report and in vitro evidence of notable antitoxin effects on M1UK
Abstract
Abstract We report a case of severe M1 UK Streptococcus pyogenes pneumonia that treated with adjunctive clindamycin therapy. In vitro, clindamycin consistently suppressed streptococcal pyrogenic exotoxin A ( speA ) expression in M1 UK , but not in M1 global , and levofloxacin had no suppressive effects, thus underscoring the important antitoxin role of clindamycin in M1 UK infections.
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a case report, done in people. Its evidence level is 5 of 5 (Very low · case / narrative / animal / in vitro / in silico). Case reports, narrative reviews, and animal, cell or computer-model studies give the weakest evidence for human health.
