Association Between Omega-3 Supplement Use and Cognitive Function in Korean Older Adults: An 8-Year Longitudinal Cohort Study
Abstract
Highlights • This 8-year longitudinal cohort study investigated the association between O3FA supplementation and cognitive performance among community-dwelling older adults in South Korea.• O3FA supplement use was significantly associated with better maintenance of CERAD-K[N] scores over time.• Long-term (≥2 follow-ups; approximately ≥4 years) O3FA supplementation was associated with preserved global and memory cognitive performance over 8 years compared with non-users.
How strong is the evidence?
Evidence Hub reads this as a cohort study, done in people. Its evidence level is 3 of 5 (Moderate · trial / cohort / secondary analysis). Trials without a large randomized design, cohorts and secondary analyses give moderate evidence.
