Clinical characteristics of mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in children and evaluation of azithromycin treatment
Abstract
To investigate the clinical characteristics of mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in children and the clinical efficacy of azithromycin injection in the treatment of MPP.
Clinical data of 70 children with MPP admitted to our department from January 2023 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. These children with mycoplasma pneumonia were divided into control group and treatment group according to odd-even number method, with 35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional treatment, and the treatment group was treated with azithromycin injection based on the reference group. The clinical effects of the two groups were compared.
The incidence of MPP in each season was 5 cases (7.1%) in spring, 9 cases (12.9%) in summer, 25 cases (35.7%) in autumn and 31 cases (44.3%) in winter. Among 70 cases of MPP, 67 (95.7%) had cough and 60 (85.7%) had fever. 29 cases (41.4%) had wheezing, 58 cases (82.9%) had wet rales audible in the lungs during the course of the disease, and 22 patients (31.4%) had dry rales audible during the course of the disease. Total clinical effective rate of treatment group was higher than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant (p<.05).
MPP in children mostly occurs in autumn and winter, with fever and cough as the main clinical manifestations. In the treatment of mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in children, azithromycin has a significant effect and can be used as the drug of choice in clinical…
