Migraine and homoeopathy
Abstract
Migraine is a primary episodic headache disorder marked by diverse neurological, gastrointestinal, and autonomic manifestations. It is one of the most common causes of recurrent headache and contributes significantly to absenteeism from work, reduced productivity, and avoidance of social and personal engagements. The burden of migraine extends beyond physical discomfort, affecting psychological and social well-being. Homoeopathy, with its individualized and holistic approach, has shown promising effects in the management of migraine. Treatment selection in homoeopathy depends upon the type of migraine, its symptomatology, severity, and underlying causative factors. This chapter explores the clinical features and impact of migraine, reviews conventional management strategies, and highlights the role of homoeopathic therapeutics. Emphasis is placed on remedy selection, case-based evidence, and the potential of homoeopathy to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care in migraine management.
