Current Situation of Animal Experimental Models of Migraine
Abstract
Migraine is a common, complex neurovascular disorder. In the past two decades, impressive advances in understanding the pathogenesis of migraine and developing new therapeutic methods have been achieved in medical community, which is largely due to the availability of animal models of migraine.According to the three mainstream theories, namely vascular theory, cortical spreading depression theory, trigeminovascular theory, and the genetic predisposition of migraine, the animal experimental models of migraine also include the following four categories: vascular models, neurovascular models, genetic engineering mouse models and primary headache models. Here is to make a review of the adaptation of various animal models and the advantages and disadvantages.
