Effect of levofloxacin on renal function in elderly patients
Abstract
Objective:To study the effect of levofloxacin on renal function in elderly patients.Methods:Self-control and drug-control methods were used to observe the variations of renal function after levofloxacin(0.4g)or cefoperazone(3g~4g)were administed both twice daily intravenously for 7d~10d.Results:There were no significant differences in SCr BUN blood and urine β2-MG before and after treatment(P0.05),and there were no significant differences between the two groups too(P0.05).The indexes of renal function after therapy were better than that before therapy. Conclusion:The effect of disease state on renal function is much greater than that of drugs.Levofloxacin(0.4g,twice daily intravenously for 7d~10d)is safe and effective, and has no significant effect on renal function in elderly patients.
