RETRACTED ARTICLE: Men’s Perceptions of Female Genitals
Abstract
We, the Editor and Publisher of the journal International Journal of Sexual Health have retracted the following article: Byers, E. S., & Fudge, M. C. (2024). Men’s Perceptions of Female Genitals. International Journal of Sexual Health, 37(1), 1–13. https://doi.org/10.1080/19317611.2024.2424887. Since publication, a concern was raised regarding the ‘10-item perceptions of Female Genitals Scale’ and its similarity with the following scale: “Attitudes Toward Women's Genitals Scale (ATWGS)”, originally developed by Dr. Debra L. Herbenick in the following article: Herbenick, D. L. (2009). The Development and Validation of a Scale to Measure Attitudes Toward Women’s Genitals. International Journal of Sexual Health, 21(3), 153–166. https://doi.org/10.1080/19317610903149692 When raised with the authors, they confirmed that this scale had been incorrectly attributed. As this error directly impacts the methods, discussion and validity of the research conclusions, the authors have agreed to retract the article to ensure the integrity of the scholarly record. We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE principles. The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
