Abstract

This study is designed to assess the potential difference in Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) lowering efficacy between the two DPP-4 inhibitors vildagliptin and sitagliptin, both after a two weeks treatment on top of metformin.

Conditions: Diabetes Mellitus Type 2.

Primary outcome: demonstrate that the FPG after 14 days of treatment with Vildagliptin is superior to the FPG after 14 days of treatment with Sitagliptin.

Enrollment: 187 participants.

How strong is the evidence?

Evidence Hub reads this as a clinical trial, done in people. Its evidence level is 3 of 5 (Moderate · trial / cohort / secondary analysis). Trials without a large randomized design, cohorts and secondary analyses give moderate evidence. Reported size: 187 participants or records.

How the five levels of evidence work. The level is assigned automatically from the abstract and can be wrong, so check the paper.
