Abstract

Case We report two cases of young Hispanic males with posterior acetabular fractures sustained during low-energy basketball injuries, a mechanism rarely described in the literature. Both patients underwent open reduction and internal fixation within 24 h of admission. Detailed evaluations, surgical procedures, and follow-up outcomes are provided. Conclusion These cases highlight an unusual presentation of acetabular fractures in young males from low-energy sports injuries. The findings emphasize the need for further research into the mechanisms, management, and natural history of low-energy acetabular fractures in young patients.

How strong is the evidence?

Evidence Hub reads this as a case series, done in people. Its evidence level is 5 of 5 (Very low · case / narrative / animal / in vitro / in silico). Case reports, narrative reviews, and animal, cell or computer-model studies give the weakest evidence for human health.

How the five levels of evidence work. The level is assigned automatically from the abstract and can be wrong, so check the paper.
