Nanotechnology and Antimicrobial Resistance: Investigate the use of Nanotechnology in Developing Novel Antimicrobial Agents
Abstract
AMR is a major health issue that impacts the entire world with one of its main causes being the overuse of traditional antibiotics and the lack of new therapeutic agents.A viable solution, which is offered by nanotechnology, is the development of nanoparticles and nanosystems with unique physicochemical characteristics that enhance the effectiveness of antimicrobials. These nanomaterials act in various ways, including disrupting cell membranes, producing reactive oxygen species, releasing metal ions, and penetrating biofilms.Additionally, they increase the efficacy of traditional antibiotics when used in conjunction with nanomaterials. The current research paper points out that along with the selection of some nanomaterials. The report offers an in-depth coverage of the different types, mechanisms, modes of therapy, and safety of antimicrobial nanomaterials and the prospects of their application in the fight against multidrug-resistant microbes and the future of the next-generation nanoantibiotics.
