Cover Feature: Poly(Lactide‐Co‐Glycolide) Nanoparticles Co‐Loaded with Chlorophyllin and Quantum Dots as Photodynamic Therapy Agents (ChemPlusChem 11/2019)
Abstract
The cover feature shows the encapsulation of chlorophyllin and CdSe core–shell quantum dots in poly(lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles and their potential application as photodynamic cancer therapy agents. Excitation of quantum dots at 365 nm leads to indirect excitation of chlorophyllin by fluorescence resonance energy transfer, and triggers the production of radical oxygen species in vitro and thus increased cell mortality. More details are given in the Communication by M. Galliani and G. Signore on page 1653 in Issue 11, 2019 (DOI: 10.1002/cplu.201900342).
