Abstract

Quantum Mechanics Before Copenhagen – A Holland Field (Φ) Reinterpretation of the Early Quantum Crisis The GETT Correspondence Series – Paper 6John Edward HollandIndependent Researcher | ORCID: 0009-0001-5120-8712 Description Why did physics conclude that microscopic reality must be fundamentally probabilistic, observer-dependent, and intrinsically quantised? This work revisits the original empirical crises that gave rise to quantum mechanics between 1900 and 1930—including: blackbody radiation, Planck quantisation, the photoelectric effect, atomic stability, discrete spectral structure, wave–particle duality and double-slit interference. Using General Expanse Tension Theory (GETT) and the Holland Field, Φ, a real, gauge-invariant, all-pervading scalar substrate, this paper asks a deliberately counterfactual but scientifically precise question: Did the original quantum evidence uniquely require the abandonment of physical realism… or might the same observations have admitted an alternative causal interpretation had a physically admissible substrate been available? Across the correspondence domain explicitly examined, this work demonstrates exact mathematical correspondence or non-trivial structural correspondence with the original experimental record while preserving all measured observables. Within the GETT framework: Planck quantisation is reinterpreted as resonance-lock state selection, blackbody mode occupation emerges from boundary-conditioned standing modes,…
