Abstract

PURPOSE: To report the treatment response of a case of tubercular choroidal granuloma and subretinal abscess with intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) and moxifloxacin.

METHOD: Retrospective interventional case report.

RESULTS: A 34-year-old man presented with bilateral choroidal granuloma and subretinal abscess in one eye. He was a known case of spinal tuberculosis and was on anti-tubercular therapy. Patient was successfully treated with intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF and moxifloxacin.

CONCLUSION: Intravitreal anti-VEGF and moxifloxacin combination may be beneficial in tubercular choroidal granuloma and subretinal abscess.

How strong is the evidence?

Evidence Hub reads this as a case report, done in people. Its evidence level is 5 of 5 (Very low · case / narrative / animal / in vitro / in silico). Case reports, narrative reviews, and animal, cell or computer-model studies give the weakest evidence for human health.

How the five levels of evidence work. The level is assigned automatically from the abstract and can be wrong, so check the paper.
