Acute cardiovascular events in diabetic patients with community acquired pneumonia – a cross sectional study in a tertiary care centre
Abstract
Acute cardiovascular complications is common in patients with community acquired pneumonia (CAP), which is
responsible for high mortality. The high mortality and morbidity rates in patients with community acquired pneumonia
and diabetes are related to consequent or concomitant cardiovascular complications to the acute episode of infections.
Both plaque related and plaque unrelated complications are common. It is important to identify them at the earliest in
order to reduce the in hospital stay and mortality. This study shows clinical spectrum of patients presenting with acute
cardiovascular events who have been diagnosed with pneumonia and type 2 diabetes in a tertiary care center.
