Abstract

Community-acquired pneumonia is an acute inflammation of the lung parenchyma caused by a pathogen infection acquired outside the hospital or in the community. The main therapy used to treat community-acquired pneumonia is antibiotics. A quantitative evaluation of antibiotics is carried out using the Defined Daily Doses (DDD) method. A qualitative evaluation to assess the accuracy of drug use is carried out using the 90% Drug Utilization (DU) method. This study aims to determine the quantity of antibiotic use in community pneumonia patients using the ATC/DDD method and antibiotics included in the 90% DU segment at the Taman Husada Bontang Regional General Hospital in 2024. This study is a descriptive quantitative study. Data collection was carried out retrospectively through medical record observation. The population of this study was all medical records of pneumonia patients hospitalized at Taman Husada Bontang Regional General Hospital from January to June 2024. Data processing was carried out descriptively and quantitatively. The data was processed using Microsoft Excel and presented in tabular form. The results showed that the majority of patients were aged 18-39 years (100%) and male (59%). The quantity of antibiotic use was obtained with the highest DDD/100 days of treatment value being Ceftriaxone at 42.5 DDD/100 days of treatment. The antibiotics included in the 90% Drug Utilization segment are Ceftriaxone (52.9%), Levofloxacin (23.5%), Azithromycin (11.1%) and…
