Quantum Survival Dimension for Coherence-Threshold Prediction in Multirate Open Quantum Systems
Abstract
Abstract Understanding and predicting the loss of quantum coherence is a central challenge in open quantum systems, quantum information processing, and quantum technologies. This study introduces the Quantum Survival Dimension (QSD) framework, a survival-scaling approach designed to characterize coherence suppression and improve prediction of coherence-threshold behaviour in multirate and non-exponential quantum dynamics. Rather than modifying established quantum theory, QSD serves as a descriptive and predictive layer built upon standard open-system dynamics. The framework was evaluated on a large synthetic benchmark comprising 840 quantum systems spanning seven channel families, including dephasing, amplitude damping, depolarizing, multirate, and non-exponential survival processes. Performance was assessed using coherence-threshold prediction tasks and compared against conventional exponential and machine-learning baselines. Results show that a physics-resolved survival model incorporating QSD concepts substantially improves prediction accuracy relative to a one-rate exponential baseline. However, QSD features alone do not provide sufficient predictive power and perform worse than several rate-informed approaches. When combined with rate-based information, QSD contributes a modest but measurable improvement in predictive performance. These findings support QSD as a useful survival-modelling language for describing coherence suppression in complex quantum systems,…
