Abstract

Healthcare industry confronts complex problems requiring creative approaches to accurate diagnosis, efficient treatment and data handling. Quantum computers are different and could have transformative effects in different areas of healthcare. This narrative review systematically catalogs all available literature on quantum computing applications in healthcare in a way that underscores the potential to influence diagnostics, data interpretation, and therapy development. The potential for quantum computing to manage huge, complicated sets of data more quickly than classical computers could have profound consequences for areas including genomics, medical imaging and personalised medicine. Quantum algorithms can be faster in) finding genetic markers that correlate with) diseases, in analyzing medical medical data, etc., and advance personalized treatment strategies based on individual genetic profiles. In addition, quantum cryptography provides a secure, reliable method of protecting sensitive medical data, at a time when the healthcare sector is increasingly operating in the digital realm. It was also noted that, although the future looks bright, there are technical, ethical, and regulatory barriers to incorporating quantum computing into healthcare. Quantum hardware is fragile, needs error correction and there are scaling issues that make wide adoption vehemently difficult. This article is an invaluable resource for researchers interested in exploring the transformative…
