Quantum-Secure Blockchain Framework for Medical Record Privacy
Abstract
The increasing rate of digitization of healthcare systems has emphasized the need to provide secure, private, and efficient management of electronic medical records. The current state of security solutions depends only on classical cryptography, which may be broken with the advancement of quantum computing. The current research proposes a quantum-resistant blockchain-based framework to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and controlled access of critical patient information. The framework integrates blockchain technology, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum key distribution, to offer immunity against classical and quantum cyber threats. At the same time, the research aims to offer a hybrid storage solution to ensure the scalability of the designed framework, while offering tamper-proof audit trails using cryptographic hashing. Smart contracts have been used to offer patient-centric access controls to ensure the secure, transparent, and verifiable sharing of EHRs among authorized healthcare providers. The proposed architecture utilizes REST API-based communication with blockchain and quantum-resistant security modules for secure healthcare data exchange.
