Metal nanocrystals and nanoclusters with paracetamol passivation and for paracetamol detection: a critical review
Abstract
Paracetamol (acetaminophen), being a well-used pharmaceutical drug, has several harmful health effects due to its overconsumption. Thus, sensing of paracetamol is inevitable. A comparative account of paracetamol detection with nanocrystals and nanoclusters based on electrochemical (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, square wave voltammetry, amperometry, linear sweep voltammetry) and optical (fluorometric, SERS, colorimetric) pathways is summarized in this paper. Moreover, paracetamol was found to be an excellent passivating agent for the evolution of nanocrystals and nanoclusters with multifaceted applications. Lack of a review in such an important area indicates the need for such a review for young researchers associated with nanotechnology and medicinal chemistry.
