Highly Sensitive Detection of Glucose by NiNPS/4AP N-GQDS Nanocomposite Based Electrochemical Sensor
Abstract
Abstract In this paper, a highly ultrasensitive electrochemical sensor based on nickel nanoparticles/4-aminophenol functional nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NiNPs/4AP N-GQDs) composite was synthetized to determine glucose. This nanocomposite material was characterized by UV-Vis, FTIR, EDX, TEM and XRD methods. The electrochemical properties of the nanocomposite used to modify glassy carbon (GC) electrode was studied by cyclic voltammetry technique. Band gap energy, HOMO-LUMO energy levels and specific capacitance values of the NiNPs/4AP N-GQDs at different scan rates were calculated using cyclic voltammograms. BGE was found as 0.08 eV. In addition, the highest specific capacitance was found as 0.739 F g − 1 at 5 mV s − 1 . The electrode reaction properties of glucose on this modified electrode were investigated by cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry techniques, which showed that the electrode had electrocatalytic activity for glucose sensing. The developed electrode exhibited good sensitivity and improved performance. Moreover, the linear calibration curve for glucose was calculated to have a LOD (limit of detection) of 235 nM in the range of 750 nM to 10 µM. Lastly, glucose selectivity of the modified GC electrode was investigated in the presence of several bioactive compounds and despite interfering substances, new electrochemical sensor was found to have excellent glucose selectivity.
