Graphene Quantum Dots Embedded La-MOFs Composite Based Non-Enzymatic Electrochemical Sensor in the Measurement of Serotonin from Blood Serum Samples
Abstract
A novel lanthanum based MOF has been prepared through hydrothermal route in the measurement of a depressant biomarker i.e. serotonin. The La-MOFs has been synthesised using 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid as an organic linker molecule by hydrothermal synthesis and the graphene quantum dots have been prepared through the ball milling grinding followed by pyrolysis at 180 ᵒc for 6 h. The synthesised La-MOFs/GQDs composite has been characterised by UV-Vis, SEM, TEM, FTIR, XRD, Raman, TGA and electrochemical techniques. The modified electrode exhibited a good analytical response under optimum conditions such as pH 7, scan rate 50 mV/s, linearity ranging from 5 nM to 0.2 µM with a limit of detection of 0.016 nM, LOQ of 0.054 nM with sensitivity of 1.49 µAnM-1cm-2. It has been applied to real sample matrices like animal blood serum and obtained good recovery results with spiked samples.
