AAPM Spring Clinical Meeting ‐ Abstract

Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, 2024

Abstract

The future of the medical physics workforce was a topic of discussion that was unavoidable over the past year including concerns that the field is reshaping rapidly. While there has long been a focus on the workforce, the disruptions of the last few years ranging from Covid-19, Artificial Intelligence, industry mergers among 3 rd party physics groups and the introduction of OEM manufacturers offering professional staffing services have added to the uncertainty physicists from many disciplines have felt. This session will explore how these and other factors are impacting the therapy, diagnostic and nuclear medicine disciplines. The session will also look farther into the future and explore new paradigms and practice models that may help to mitigate against some challenges. AAPM Spring Clinical Meeting Abstracts Saturday, March 23was used to generate 3D voxelized dose maps. Results: In a preliminary analysis, five representative patients exhibiting either response, progression, or mixed response to 177 Lu-PSMA-617 were included. In all cases, the TTV kinetics were well-correlated with PSA values.Voxelized patient-specific dosimetry revealed tolerable mean doses to the kidneys, parotid glands, and bone marrow of 3.5±1.8Gy, 1.5±1.0Gy, and 0.2±0.06Gy, respectively.A total of 46 lesions were contoured with an overall mean tumor dose of 5.6±4.4Gy.Conclusion: Earlier response detection and dose estimation can be achieved with the use of serial SPECT/CT imaging during the course of 177…
